Hey Gwen.....I highly recommend you check out Keller Williams as well, especially if new agent training is important to you as that is the base of every good Realtor......and definitely find a mentor in the business as you will need someone to bounce ideas off of when you are in your first contract and closing. At my office, we have a formal mentor program which has been very successful in getting new agents a few sales and closings under their belts and into a good level of production. It excites me to see!! If you would like to meet with my Team Leader for an interview....call Mark Corral at 803-835-2301 or if you need another KW Team Leader such as Southpark or Ballantyne, I am happy to get that set up for you as well! Have a great night and best!

Call Ian Corefield, (704) 968-5055. That is his mobile. Make sure you tell him that I referred you. Wilkinson cares very much about their agents. There are no leads, but if you do decide to join, I would be happy to get together with you and help! There are a lot of ways to get leads! Call me if you like, 803-207-5973

Marilyn,

Thank you so much for responding! Jen has been so helpful and she actually had someone call me from the Southpark office with whom I'll be meeting with on Monday! I'm excited and it's great to discuss the business with seasoned agents!!!

Again,

Thank you

Hi Gwen,
Congratulations on getting your RE license! That is a milestone in itself. Keller Williams is the fastest growing real estate company in the United States! You definitely want to partner with a leader in the industry. I have been with Keller Williams for 3 years. There is just no comparison. I am in the same office with Jen (one of the other's that answered). She is a really great and helpful agent. The mentality of our office is how can we help one another to make this a win/win situation. Just in case your schedules conflict, I would be happy to meet with you as well if you have any questions or arrange for the team leader of either my office in Fort Mill (It's not as far as you might think) or Southpark to contact you. Call anytime:)
Have a great day!
Marilyn

Thank you all for your help! The information given has been exceptional with assisting me in making a good decision! @ Jen, yes the Southpark would be great because I live down the street from Southpark mall.

Again,

Thanks everyone

@ rosemarie, I used to work with agent from Wilkinson ana Associates and I only recieved good news from her. I didn't think Wilkinson and Associates would be a good fit for me because I'm a new agent and I was told that bigger companies do not really take the time to provide new agents good leads and/or training but I'm sure that was just talk. I know that I have to try it out for myself and I've been shopping around, I asked about Zip because they called me today. How's Wilkinson and Associates? Who should I contact for a meet and greet/interview?

Thanks

I would suggest working for them if you like to live at poverty level. The pay scale is something at 22% of the commission, and they micormanage your every move!. The leads they give you are mostly bogus, ( I speak from experience). I am with Wilkinson & Associates, I have tried others over the past 9 years, and they are the best. They offer training and have an in house lender and attorney. 100% commission too!

ZIP Realty is closing down operations in Charlotte. This was just published in the Charlotte Business Journal. I'd suggest interviewing with several firms.

I believe it's important to interview with many companies to find the one that matches your needs the best. We have a lot of choices in the Charlotte area. If the company doesn't feel like a smart fit to you, you should continue to interview. Ask yourself what are the 3 most important things to you as a new agent? Hopefully that would include training. Look at the training program for the companies you are considering. Another thing to consider is market share. Signs generate calls! The real estate business is still a wonderful choice for a career. Find the company that fits you the best and enjoy your new career! Good Luck!

Just talked to one of their agents....they are switching over from Employee Contracts to Independent Contractor status like every other company in the marketplace.

The Raleigh News and Observer reported last week that Zip Realty is closing down most of its operations in North Carolina. You can probably find the article with more details on the News and Observer's website. It was just a few days ago and I cannot recall all of the details.

Oh good! I didn't log in before responding, so I didn't see the responses. I'm glad they're no longer getting away with it!

No, no, no! I interviewed with them and couldn't believe what they are getting away with in paying their agents. In a nutshell, the agent spit is 28.66%!!! That is not a typo... 28.66%!!!!!!! But..... they do give you mileage money and pay for your phone. lol

Ms. Gwen,

There are many things that you want to consider when you are looking for a company at which you are going to start your real estate career. First you want to associate with a company that is going to be around for a long time! Because of that I would look for a company that will provide you with information on their financial situation. Second you want to look for a company that offers the latest technology. This will help you to provide the best service you your clients. Third you want a company that offers you additional education and coaching opportunities. Fourth (and for me one of the most important) a good work environment.

For me Keller Williams is the best choice! I was with a different company when I started but I have since changed to Keller Williams at SouthPark. The move was a challange but so worth it! I have never been happier. There are so many chances to learn here. The coaching is great. Everyone is so helpful and willing to share information and ideas to help grow your business. They teach you to grow the business like a business so you can be even more successful. They also offer profit sharing to the agents.

If you would like to talk or have any other questions about starting your business please call me at 704-576-1671.

Best Wishes,

Before you join any company, check out their training, location, reputation, marketing, professionalism, etc. What kind of support (and you will need this) do they give you, especially as a new agent? What technology do they use? Ask lots of questions and interview with several companies before you make your decision. Changing companies is expensive.
Good luck in your new career.

I sent this out to all ZIP Realty agents yesterday but found out they are simply changing names. I would love to interview you to join my "Stat-of-the-art" team within Re/Max!

My name is Dean Nikodemski and I have recently heard of the demise of Zip Realty. This may come at a good time for you and your fellow brokers. I am holding a seminar with my partners at Ameritrust in Ballantyne on Monday, December 13th, from 9-11 to discuss the potential for you to be a Re/Max agent on my team which would include a Free desk within the Ameritrust Headquarters, Free printed marketing, a 90%-10% commission split and much more. I have cubicles already wired and you will have access to everything in this 20,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility and become a part of the fastest growing Re/Max team in the city at virtually zero fees! I will explain everything at the seminar and if you can't wait until Monday or are unable to attend feel free to contact me directly any time between now and then.

This is, in my opinion, a life-changing opportunity if you want to stay in the real estate profession! I don't want to make this sound like a sales pitch but I would like for you and your colleagues to at least listen to the proposal. This seminar is exclusively for past Zip Realty Associates. This opportunity will be announced and presented to all of the "Top Producers" in the area on Tuesday, December 14th!

Also, if you are unfamiliar with Ameritrust, feel free to visit their website at http://www.ameritrust.com.

If you choose to go in another direction, good luck, God Bless and have a safe and happy Holiday Season!

I am looking for an agressive agent for my team. We have almost 40 listings and get 2 to 8 leads a day.

Here is another article about the recent development with Zip Realty. Sounds like they are closing all of their NC offices.

What a timely question.....Zip Realty closed it's doors today!! I would highly recommend you take a look at Keller Williams Realty. There are offices in Southpark, Ballantyne, University and more that may be a good fit for you. The education is wonderful for a new agent such as yourself and there are many benefits associated with being a KW agent. Would love to discuss with you more if you have further questions. After interviewing with most companies in the area, I found a great fit with Keller Williams and have never looked back!
