Hello, I'm looking to move to boulder and buy a home. We own a 23 foot RV trailer that we would have to park

in the driveway or yard. Does this rule out the posssiblity of purchasing a Townhouse or Condo with an HOA? I'm pretty sure any HOA would be opposed to this. Is a single family home with a driveway our only option? thanks.

Tom,

It does depend on the HOA. Some HOAs (even with regard to single family homes) do not allow RVs even in your driveway. My suggestion would be to find the home you like (condo/townhome/single family) and see if you can negotiate the parking of your RV.

There are also people who own lots and rent spaces to park oversize vehicles. There are many people such as yourself within Boulder who have boats, RVs, etc that use services like these. Also, depending on the height of the garage, there are some single family homes in Boulder that have larger (higher) garages where it might fit.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Tom,

Some townhome or condo complexes have a designated area for an RV. Likewise, some single family homes are within communities that restrict parking an RV in your own driveway or on the street in front of your home for anything other than loading and unloading.

If you are referring to the townhome located at 1554 Macarthur Drive in Boulder, I could contact the HOA on your behalf to determine what their restrictions are.

Hit Tom.

Here is the city's position on it: http://www.bouldercolorado.gov/index.php?option=com_content&…

As you probably know, the City is relatively dense...it will be challenging to find a great spot for the RV no doubt, but I've seen people get pretty creative on the other hand too! I will tell you that it seems relations with the neighbor seem to go a long way here with sort of things as well. (If you're neighbors OK with it, you're in good shape; but if they're not, you better have your ducks in a row.)

Best of luck, and feel free to check out my services if you think I can help any more, Tommy

It depends on the HOA but you are probably correct that you will need to find a single family house in order to park the RV in a driveway or yard.

I am guessing that you would prefer a condo so that you do not have to worry about maintenance while you are out touring the country in your RV. Unfortunately your options are probably limited to either a single family home, renting a spot for your RV in a storage yard, or parking the RV on the street.

There are a lot of variables to this equation, I would be happy to go over your options with you.
