The program has been extended to April of 2010. You must put a home under contract no later than April and the deal must close as of June of 2010 for you to be eligible. Don't forget the 6,500 tax credit for 2nd and 3rd time home buyers as well. Any other questions? I'd be happy to help. Look me up at buyharrisburghomes.com.

T,

This is a commonly asked question that has recieved much attention but at this time there is no indication that this program will be extended. To the contrary, we are reminded that the program terminates on November 30, 2009.

Our recommendation is to try to take advantage of this current opportunity and not plan on a program that may not be available.

Good luck

As of today the $8,000 1st time home buyer tax credit has not been extended into 2010. In fact in order to receive the current credit you must purchase and close on the property by Nov. 30, 2009. If you close in December you will not be eligble. As the previous agent stated there is not much time left as closings are taking anywhere from 45-60 days to get to settlement from the agreement of sale date as credit policies have tightened significantly this year.

There are efforts being made to try to offer another program for 2010 that might include all home buyers but nothing has been finalized with it and it may never happen.

Sorry but I haven't seen anything on that yet. It's running about half and half with the people I talk to about it, half think it will get extended and half think it will end as planned.
If you want to be sure and settle before the deadline, don't wait till the last minute. Contract-to-close cycles are now running 45-60 days.
Hope that helps.
