To live in Morganton is fine, as long as you have a car to get around in. When i moved here the house prices were a lot cheaper than they are now. Prices are going up every day, it seems, but i am sure you would find property to your liking. Hi Mr Piggott I have lived in Morganton for 42 years and know the area very well!!! Morganton has fast become a great retirement community. Downtown has music playing on the streets, many condos and town homes within walking distance to great restaurants. Just up the road is Lake James. Lake james is the headwater of all the lakes in this area. It is the cleanest lake water and a lot of people live there as well as have summer homes. Then there is lake Rhodhiss. It is an up and coming part of the lake development where people live full time as well as part time. This leads into Lake Hickory, some of lake hickory is in burke co. You can do as you wish once you buy the property. I have family close by and I use to live in the area. I have a top agent based in Morganton.
The one question will be are you going to be renting the property out or not. The income will need to be declared if so for tax purposes.
