Is it better to go to a direct lender such as countrywide or get help from a mortgage broker?
I'm getting leads from all over the US for government owned homes and suggest to them to check out http://WWW.fhaloanagent.com. FHA is the way to go in this market and FHAloanagent.com is a guide of approved FHA lenders.
Here's a third nomination for Dominic White at Wells Fargo in Schaumburg. He's a knowledgeable person to work with, and knows the latest FHA guidelines and loan qualifications. He would be your best bet in Schaumburg. It also seems that he works 24/7, so he'll be very easy to get ahold of! :)
I'd be glad to help you. We have been specializing in FHA loans for over 20 years and know it backwards. I have a great pool of lenders. i'll walk you through it every step of the way.
Happy Hunting!!!!
I agree with Lyn that the Well-Fargo loan officer Dominic is a great choice. We work with him a lot. He is right in our office, so after Lyn finds you the right home, you can walk across the hall.
Phil,
I suggest my clients work with someone they know that has the backing of a large lending institution.
Here's an interesting recent insight into Countrywide from MSNBC http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28645505/
Send me an email and I'll be happy to give you a couple of names of local mortgage officers that care about your satisfaction and will work hard to get everything done right.
Good Househunting!
