Some people believe in very strongly about T homes. I had a client who refused to see a T home no matter how great the price or location. And then I have other clients who believe it is just a superstition and do not care.

So it is up to you. If it does not bother you, go for it. However, keep in mind that when you go to sell your home, many of the buyers may not be too keen on a T home. The other two homes may be a better situation than the T property. Are all three homes on the market.

I prefer corner homes since you may have a bigger lot size and more privacy on that side compared to being stuck between two homes. Also if you need a new fence, you need to talk to both your neighbors for their cooperation but if you are on the corner, there is only one person, so less hassle.

The house that is a problem is the one that is directly facing incoming traffic (where the two line intersect forming a "T"). Like someone else wrote (below), incoming traffic, noise, lights = bad flow. Also many Chinese buyers don't like "straight through" layouts, where the front door is aligned directly with a patio door in the back of the house....money or luck flows "straight through" the home. And also if the stairway of the home is direcly aligned with the front door (I forget this reason). And if the stove directly faced the sink (clash). So if you don't care, it doesn't matter. But realize that when you sell, there will be a large percentage of Chinese buyers you will shut out (ESPECIALLY in the Fremont area) that avoid purchasing houses like these...
Personally, I like corner lots because of the light that the house gets (3 side exposure). But I avoid corner lots that have stop signs because of the noise of cars reving up after stopping. But there is nothing wrong with having neighbors on both sides either!

Rishi, perhaps the answer to your question on why the T-intersection may be an issue lies in the understanding of simple Feng Shui principles. The best link I’ve found for explaining this simply comes from the “Dummies” book series (See link below).

Regarding corner homes versus side-by-side: it's personal preference. Some like the idea of having side-by-side neighbors being able to watch the access way to their home, others like not having neighbors on all three sides.

T intersection (the one facing the street) is an absolutely NO.

Feng Shui is a lot of study but some are really just common sense - Think about the T, if you are the house that's facing the street, headlights can come to your house, and car can drive into your home accidently. Not a good thing.

I will go with the corner lot if it is a nice suburb (as in Fremont and not much traffic) - what my brother bought in Fremont, and they love their corner lot. They (my brother is not a realtor) also knows a lot of Realtors who knows that.

I have a client who extensively study any listing I sent him in detail for Feng Shui. Accoording to him the house has to line up with N_S earth direction so electromagnetic field or current can easily enter and exit the house without interruption. It is better if enterance(door) of the house also lines up. But the stairs should not face the door. I am not so sure about T Zone. When you buy the house your furniture arrangement also has to line up in a certain way. Specially your bed. It is a way of life and if you are new to this research it in liberary or google it. I am finding out people who believe on Feng Shui are not very open about it. I certainly like to know more.
