If you want trees, you can always plant them! Then you get to pick the types of trees in your yard.

It's probably easier to build with no trees in the way, which is why the builders cut them down.

Actually this property was not a farm. At one time it did have trees. My first home was in that area. When Wilmington had an influx of Northerners move here in the late 80's early 90's the builders could not build homes fast enough. The zoning requirements were such that homes were not built right on top of each other like this neighborhood. Average lots were 1/2 to 3/4 of an acre. However, when we started growing again in the late 90's the zoning requirements allowed postage stamp sized lots of 0.34 or 0.18 of an acre with homes in arm's length of each other so we would have room for the growth and not run out of houses again. Some Northerners don't mind the row house/cookie cutter effect of looking into a neighbors windows because they are used to it. I know this because I work with many buyers from all parts of the country. Some people just are not used to seeing trees and don't want a large yard. Depending on the layout of the parcel, it is easier for the builders to clear cut than go in & pick & choose trees to stay. I 100% understand your thoughts & agree to some extent because I have lived in a community like that. I think they should get the pines out & leave the hardwoods.

yes I do I have a 265 acre farm listed and I couldnt imagine that the farm would have no trees

How sad that people have become so disconnected from the Earth that sustains all life that they could be afraid of trees! They just sit inside and play video games, I guess.

I like more yard and love trees, but not everyone wants a big yard to take care of and of course the builders can get more homes on the land. Some people don't like to spend time in the yard, so I guess there are more that are ok with it than not. That is why they can get by with making the lots so small. I have had clients that did not want trees, for some reason they were affraid of trees. They might feel that they could fall and damage the home.
