I just bought an existing house with an existing pool. I got an FHA loan and my lender required me to change the drain covers to the new VGBA drain covers as a condition for underwriting approval claiming this was a HUD guidelines. I have not been able to find any documentation to support this demand. Was this a valid requirement?
I have done a lot of research on required property repairs.... and I have never seen this mentioned.
I have also done many loans on homes with pools. Again, never mentioned.
I think you had an over zealous lender.
Ask professional who made these statement provide documents to you
FHA do have guidelines for approval in order obtain a loan. Many sellers will decline a FHA or VA loan
