Thank all of u for taking the time to answer. I will contact the banks first then to prequalify. But I am only looking at a specific subdivision where I want to buy the house in League City Tx 77573. Probably my best then would be to check for the listing and if a suitable home comes up contact the bank I use and contact a buyer agent.
Thanks

It would depend on the neighbothood, there could be a reason that a paticular neighborhood would go down in prices but otherwise this part of Texas has not been inpacted by the drop in the market that Dallas some of the other Metro areas have. You watch the national news and try to apply it to this area but it does not work. Agents in Galveston, Harris, Ft. Bend, Montgomery and the surrounding counties that make up the Harris County Board of Realtors will all tell you that we have our own market.
I am not in the mortgage business but I think that the interest rates should be attractive to you at this time . I do not work that area but I do have some sellers that are working with collegues in the League City area and they are very happy with the prices they are running into. Maybe it's the agent -maybe it the area.

Good luck
Margaret

An agent can't make a comment on that for against our professional code of ethics. However an agent can pull particular areas provide you the stat's from the past 6months could be up to 3 years. You will need to be pre-qualified for a loan and lending has changed. Don't get go thru the process till you are ready to purchase a real estate agent won't work with you till you are qualified via a lender. NOTE: Never purchase a home unless you have your own personal real estate agent working with you not even from a builder, seller, or the listing agent.
