Depends on your address and your level of comfort, therefore check with local insurance companies, also see link...

Since flood risk can vary greatly over small geographic locations that is a tough question to answer without specifics, however you can enter the address of the property you are interested in at http://www.Floodsmart.gov to aid in determining the flood risk of a given location as well as a plethora of great information on flood insurance.

I hope this is of some assistance to you and if I can answer any other questions you may have do not hesitate to contact me.

Have a wonderful day!

In parts of Inwood, flood insurance is required. North of Doughty Blvd.,, west of Sheridan Blvd. and south of Bayview Avenue flooded during Superstorm Sandy. There are pockets of zones that are rated "X" which means it is not in the flood plain, but you have to check specific addresses - not just by zip code. Hope this was helpful.
