Some homes located away from areas near water have basements. Due to our high ground water table newer homes are generally not built with basements. Single-wide mobile homes are placed on lots and the piers under the trailer are secured to the ground and shirting is installed around the bottom of the trailer. Double-wide trailers can also be placed in the same fashion or will sometimes be placed on a block foundation.
