If you are looking for assistance in buying a home, Section 8 is not the program. Section 8 is strictly for rentals. There is, however, a program whereby builders in Planned Urbana Developments must earmark a certain number of homes that are sold as what's called Moderately Priced Dwelling Units or MPDU's that sell only to those families who meet certain income requirements. They must register for the program and then the families are selected through a lottery. Google MPDU's in your area to learn how to get registered. These units typically do not have amenities like dishwashers and no upgrades but just the basic home and are sold at substantially lower prices.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

There are voucher programs like section 8 that help people with purchasing houses if that's what you are asking about. You want to speak with the local agency that adminsters the program or a local housing counseling agency in the area you are looking to buy.

Hope that helps!

Section 8 is for rentals and Trulia does not have a section for rentals. You may want to try craigslist.
