Rick,

Here is a link to the state DOR site that allows you to check by county. https://etax.dor.ga.gov/ptd/county/index.aspx

Remember you have to been the occupant of the property on January 1st of this year in order to receive this benefit in 2011. All counties require you to file the exemption by the 1st of April. Happy house hunting!

Tim, if you don't know the answer, don't give a "page not found" site. You might also want to take a quick refresher course in the English language and add "have" to the thought that you have to "have" been.....

I know that Cherokee County, Cobb, Paulding, Hall and DeKalb and Glynn all have Senior Citizen exemptions for over age 62. This relieves you of paying any of the School taxes and is a huge reduction on your tax bill. There may be more counties which I can research for you but do not want to misquote on all the counties.

also add Dawson County but NOT, NOT NOT Pickens County. They refuse to even put the proposal on the ballot so residents can vote

You can add Gilmer county to that list also, I had heard that only three counties in the state offered that exemption, it would be nice to be made aware of all the counties with that exemption as it would help greatly when searching for homes to buy and for those selling.
