Wow..six gun territory!! I worked there while I was in high school at Lake Weir (back when it really was at the lake). This was 1971 and 72.
Hello Steve and Joan
I have lived here in Ocala now for 33 years. Alot has changed since I was a child here. The villages was farm land and there was no mall and there was a great park called Six Gun Territory all has now built up and gone. I would say the SE area would be my choice to pick a great home. You should be able to find alot of homes in that area alot cheaper then you posted. I have seen so many changes in the cost of homes I have inspected just keep dropping and dropping in the past year.Take your time, Come Visit and find the area you like. There are maybe some homes in that price on lake weir where I live.Unless you want horses then I would say the NW area or SW near Hits. No matter where you pick your home im sure you will enjoy your stay here in Ocala. If you need a realtor recomendation just give me a call I will give you a few contacts. After you locate that home give us a call for that professional inspection. I wish you all the best in your home search.

Thanks folks, finally met an agent today who had what it took to give us the answer. She did a good job and that says it all.
Just happened on your post and thought I would let you know about our home in Ocala. We have moved to Idaho Falls, ID and have our property listed with Foxfire Realty in Ocala. Our home is located in an excellent SE neighborhood called Woodfields. The home is on a cul-de-sac and is on a .75 acre lot. 3500 sq ft 4 bedrooms 3 bath with pool. We are now listed at 309k. You can email us at layfield@q.com or call (208)552-6253. Thanks and good luck with your search!
Rainbow Springs Forest is the best investment, nicer then the woodlands and more secure,You have a higher property value and much less homes and traffic,we are all part of the rainbow springs golf and country club but for sure you will like the forest better. We did all the investigating before buying here and The forest section is the best. I am not a realtor but the best one to call for the area is Mike Parker Coldwell Banker Ellison,I used him and was impressed I am not affiliated with him or the company in any way, just trying to help.there are 2 homes for sale on sw75th loop in the forest look at them they are gorgeous.
I am a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Riverland Realty in Dunnellon, Fl. I think the perfect spot for you may be Rainbow Springs Woodlands sub-division. There are mostly 1 acre tracts with prices ranging from $200,000-$450,000 depending on size, amenities and year they were built. Rainbow Springs is a quiet community with a country club located in SW Marion county. It's about a 20 minute drive from Ocala. The Woodlands is only about 2 miles north of Dunnellon, which is a small town with some nice restaurants, a Walmart, and other grocery stores. I would suggest looking into this area. You'll get more house for your money than in Ocala. If you would like more information please feel free to contact me at jfrasier74@aol.com or 352-497-4130.

Steveandjo,
Ocala is a beautiful area with many home purchase opportunities. Because of its inland location, you can expect the summer temperatures to be slightly warmer and the winter temperatures to be a bit cooler. Additionally, to take advantage of Florida's beautiful beaches, you are going to be a little further then a comfortable drive.
We wouild be happy to refer you to a very capable agent in the Ocala area.
Good luck,
The "Eckler Team"

Wow - you could live in the least populated oceanfront county in Florida if you come to Vero Beach. Disney selected Vero Beach for their Disney -Orlando guests who wish to include time at the beach in their Disney vacation. Vero Beach was the only town in Florida selected by the author of the book, "The Best Small Towns in America" (Sorry don't know how to underline here for a book); Vero Beach has been in the list of the "Best Places to Retire" in Retire Magazine for the past 15 - 18 years (I lost count), was projected to be one of the top locations for future appreciation of value by CNN and others. I could go on and on, and will if you want to contact me for more information. You might want to visit our website and view a photo tour of Vero Beach. While you are there, search for homes or send me your criteria, and I will send you homes selected according to your specifications.
Better yet, we have a full blown Buyer's Market like most of the nation - some real bargains in builder spec homes, and so forth. Email me a ginny@MyVeroBeachRealEstate.com
