Can they make corrections on our paper work after closing on our house?

Asked by Robertmohr11, New York, NY Mon Dec 17, 2012

We bought a house 2 months ago, we put down 3000 dollers of earnest money. Our paper work was mailed to us prior to closing. We saw that it showed us only getting 270 back and not the 3000. So we asked the mortgage lady about it and she told us we were getting back 3270 bc sometimes when u use the va loan u end up getting more back. At closing we received our 3270. 2 months later the called and said we our that 270 back after everything was signed. Can they do that??

No, they can’t do that. Your Realtor, the lender and the title company all reviewed the figures before the closing, or at least they should have. Let them know you will contact the VA for an explanation and see what they say.

I would start by reaching out to the title company/attorney who did your closing. They should be able to provide you with the correct answer.
