Can one exclusively search for a ranch style home on the internet?

We are looking to relocate in Kent County, Delaware from Maryland and are very frustrated because we really want a ranch style home. We have to wade through thousands of home styles when we look on the internet. Is there a way to search only for ranches?

Hi Deborah,

Trulia's keyword search will let you search listing descriptions for the term 'ranch' or 'ranch style'. However when I performed such a search in the 21013 zip code I didn't locate any results. Still, if you are looking to browse or buy in any other areas, I recommend that you give it a try.

You're right, i don't think I've ever seen an option to select a "Ranch" Style home. The typical mris database search lets you search bedrooms, and sales price. I then tried a keyword search in the MRIS database. You can do that here, http://www.choicerealestate.net/, on the top right of the page. Plenty came up for "rancher", but nothing when I typed "Kent rancher". You can do the same in google but you're still sifting through a lot.

I would just contact a local Kent County Agent who will do the sifting for you and send you the Ranchers in your price range.

Of course you can!

Just go to my web site and click on "Search Listings" and on the following page select "Advanced Search". In addition to the style of home, you'll find many other options for refining the scope of your search.

Because the search function is linked back to the MRIS database (the multiple list service for our mid-Atlantic region), you'll be able to search for all active listings over a huge area. There may be a latency of approximately 24 hours, worse-case, because all the database entries are refreshed once per day.

You can also sign-up to receive auto-emails whenever a property that meets your search criteria is listed. This is a great feature designed to help efficiently manage your time. You can also create an account to store the property listings that hold the most interest for you for easy retrieval.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Happy House Hunting!

Hi Deborah:
I will agree with Bill that you should consider talking to a few agents and then selecting one to represent you and help you with your search. The databases agents have access through their paid subscriptions have much more powerful and refined search capabiliities. Your agent could be sending you homes that meet your criteria via e-mail rather than you having to search through all the unwanted listings. Wish you the best in your relocation efforts. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Deborah,

We're unclear if this can be accomplashed on the internet but a real estate professional from your location certainly could tailor a search to meet your specific needs. They may even be aware of opportunities that are not currently on the MLS that would benefit you.

Contacting a real estate professioinal today isn't going to cost you anything and it could open doors of opportunity for you and save you the head ache of doing the leg work.

Good luck,
