You hit the nail on the head Lyn. First of all, you're right. The buyer asked about "Hawthorne Estates" and that's what I answered about. That has nothing to do with knowing the area. "You" challenged my knowledge of "the area" to the person asking the question. You basically suggested to the person that they shouldn't work with me (Illinois Licenced Real Estate Agent) because I was from Berwyn and I'm not familiar with the area. That's not being thin skinned. That's you making false accusations. Read it and learn it Lyn.

Article 15
REALTORS® shall not knowingly or recklessly make false or misleading
statements about competitors, their businesses, or their business
practices. (Amended 1/92)
• Standard of Practice 15-2
The obligation to refrain from making false or misleading statements
about competitors’ businesses and competitors’ business practices
includes the duty to not knowingly or recklessly repeat, retransmit,
or republish false or misleading statements made by others. This
duty applies whether false or misleading statements are repeated in
person, in writing, by technological means (e.g., the Internet), or by
any other means. (Adopted 1/07)

I worked with REMAX in Berwyn for 15 years and I'm surprised.

Thanks for your comment. It is not a code of ethics violation to suggest to a buyer that they would work with a realtor in the area that they want to purchase in. I think that you are being a little 'thin skinned'. I personally would not work with someone out of the area & that is what I stated - a suggestion from me - that is not unethical but simply practical. You've given your entire family history that I am sure the buyer is not interested in. The buyer is interested in Hawthorn Estates remember?

Lyn,

I apoligize for being so forward, but I'm shocked that you would say something like that.

First of all I'm not "from" Berwyn. My office is in Westchester and I live in North Riveriside. As for my knowledge of Schaumburg. My family lived in Elk Grove Village for over 40 years. They worked in Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village and my grandfather worked at the BP O'Hare terminal on Elmhurst road, in Des Plaines for 28 years. My father worked for the Cook County Forest Police in the Busse Woods area for many years.

Please don't come on a public forum and openly violate the code of ethics by making wrong accusations about other realtors and their business.

P.S. If you have a buyer, I have a nice listing at 117 Shadywood Lane in Elk Grove Village on the market.

Just a suggestion but I think you should work with someone familiar with the area you want to live in. The rep from Hawthorn Estates is from Berwyn. Lots of great info & homes available when you want to start moving ahead available on my site.

There are several nice condo conversions going on. One I know that is starting at $129,900 is walk to the train. There are also some really nice resales that would be a great value also. Will you be wanting to check out all your options soon? No matter where you buy, having an experienced Accredited Buyer's Representive on your side of the transaction would be a good idea.

The final phase of the Walden condo conversion. They offer very nice units with marble countertops, etc. on renovated units. The buildings to the west are the 1st homes transformed from rental units many years ago. Very clean buildings with nice ammenities & underground parking. Prices in Hawthorn Estates range from $147,000 for a 1BR to $184,000 for a 2BR. Why not investigate the entire Schaumburg area to investigate what your purchase price has to offer? There are alot of great areas that I can show you or you can do the MLS tour with homes available in your price range (you didn't mention that).

FIRST ANSWER

There are several different subdivisions right in there. Walden is the West ones at 1912 and 1926 Prairie Square, having very high association fees and garages. Lakeside at Walden is to the South and off the beaten path-Hawthorne is the new Condo conversion community and the one I prefer. They were available is different levels of refurbishment and some had garages. I sold one that was totally redone. I think they are one of the better condos values in Schaumburg. I have all the floorplans and a lot of original information.
Would you like a list of the choices in one or all? We can see them anytime.
I have been a Schaumburg Realtor for 24 years and am an Accredited Buyer's Representitive.
