NC VIP is the best company I have worked with. They are fast, courteous to both realtors and clients, are on time, and don't mind answering clients questions even if it takes a few extra minutes. I have had numerous clients comment on how great their reports are, they take lots of pictures so you know exactly what is wrong and where it is located on the home.
Although a personal referral from a friend or family member is best, you can try ServiceMagic.com. Inspectors like me pay for these referrals. You can also read the Ratings & Reviews posted by their customers.
Just make sure they're licensed if your state requires it.
My favorite is Ed Kiley with Certified Residential Inspectors. Ed was an apprentice to one of the leading inspectors in the area for several years and does a fantastic job on pre-dry wall inspections, inspections, re-inspections, and radon testing.
Summer,
I recommend Us Inspect as well. Great company that I've been using for years. Their report are done on a tablet PC and are emailed that night. The inspectors follow a routine and are professional. I' like to give Alan Brown a nod.
As a realtor, I know many good home inspectors. My favorite is Eric Goodsell of US Inspect. He is meticulous without being a deal killer. Call US Inspect at 1-888-USInspect.
If you are workingn with a Realtor, they should have a list of people that they recommend- from attorney's to inspectors to lenders. If you need a realtor, I have a team of people that I've worked with for many years.
Hope this helps.
