Hi David, this question has been raised before - it is a good one so thanks for posting. I too hope they extend and expand the credit to all. The effect it is having on first time buyers has been dramatic. Continued activity would be fueled with an extension and expansion.

My daughter is heading up to Hamilton College as a freshman in the fall - I'll be spending some time up your way soon!

I concur with Camille, the bill considers a first time home buyer as some one that did not own any real property for the past 3 years.

Hello David,

Ms. Miller is absolutely right. I hope they extend the tax credit and allow anyone buying a property to claim it, not just first time buyers.

All the Best!

David: The answer is NO, not as the credit is written right now. The credit can only be taking by someone who has not owned a home or held a mortgage in the last three years.
