No. You cannot find out the value of your home from the Internet. The Internet will give you 'Zestimates' and values based on historic sales, some of which are months and months old. If you want to know the current value of your home you should engage a Realtor. Preferably, an agent that lives and works in your community.

The Internet is a great place to stream movies and find restaurant reviews, but not for real estate values. Trust a Realtor to determine the current value of your home.

Sure you can get an idea, but without human interaction, it's near impossible. Someone would actually have to see inside, the layout, condition, etc. to ascertain a fair market value. Market's getting better, so good time to check it out before rates go up and houses are harder for buyers to get.

Yes, contact a local REALTOR or two and ask them to provide you with the most recent comparable sales to your home. That should get you a pretty accurate idea on the current value of your home. They can email it to you.

I'm sure there are several agents on Trulia that can assist you with what you need. Good luck!

Hi Sam
Kary is right on. Zillow is not accurate. Especially in this hot market. Mary and Jerry are right on. I would like to add just one suggestion. See the properties that are used as comparables and see the properties that are for sale that would be considered your competition. Its important you are confident of the price you choose.

No. I just posted some stats to Zillow's claims of accuracy in King County earlier today, and they only claim to be plus/minus 5% in about 37% of the cases, and plus/minus 10% about 64% (???) of the time. They will be less accurate the longer it's been since the property sold. If the property was remodeled or let to deteriorate, then it would be even less likely to be accurate.

The only real ways to get a value are: (1) Get an agent to do a CMA; (2) Commission an appraisal; or (3) List the property for sale and find a buyer.
