Buying a small condo near Washington, DC

I have the opportunity to buy a 752 sq ft, 1 bedroom condo from my brother-in-law just outside of Washington,DC. I would get 2 garage parking spots with the place plus other great amenities. However, I am not certain this is right thing to do. I don't believe in doing business with family. I am also have the feeling he really does not want to sell the place though he offered the condo to me for purchase. We talked about this gut feeling of mine and he said he is ready to sell the place. I am also asking myself would I be settling for a small placed because I had a bad experience with the real estate process earlier this year or am I being foolish not buying the place since the location is premium. Help.

Taking off my Realtor hat for a moment ... trust your gut, it's usually right.

Putting my Realtor hat back on ... doing business with family can be okay as long as you remember it's "business". You need to have a professional representing you and you need to have everything done by the book. Talk with an agent who does business in the area in which the condo is located and ask for their professional opinion. If your brother-in-law balks at this, then your gut was probably trying to tell you something.
