If the answer is yes, was that tax credit what made you decide to buy a home at this time or was it just an extra perk and you would have bought the new home anyways?

I PRAY THE PROGRAM IS EXTENDED THROUGH NEXT YEAR ....I am a 1st time home buyer TRYING to take advantage of the tax credit before it expires but havent closed yet. Every home I walk through becomes Contingent immediately before I even have time to compare it with another house PLUS so many homes are INCOMPLETE - meaning that some flippers started to rennovate and never finished. My FHA appraiser has rejected several homes because the banks are adamant about the AS-IS status of the home and arent willing to bring the home up to FHA standards. Then there are the foreclosed properties with ex-owners who trashed the place before they vacated - I actually went into one home where the ex-owners took the FAUCETS...WTF????. I am ANTI-Condo because those association fees can be as much as a car note and there are bidding wars in all of the subdivisions that neighbor the great school districts and lastly with Short Sales all over the place - banks are taking their sweet time to consider my offer - November 30 will be here real soon but the banks could care less about me beating a deadline.

The credit is definitely a bonus - since I'm actually able to afford a home in this downturn it would be nice to take advantage BUT homebuying in this economy isnt as easy as going to the drive thru. At least for folks like me who are spending less than 250K.....
