Buy in Chappaqua or Bedford?
Generally, what is a better investment for resale in about 6 years - a $2 million house in Chappaqua or Bedford? Thank you.

A very personal decision. Both are great towns. Chappaqua is a slightly closer to the city, generallly more densely populated, and has been more expensive for the last 10 years than Bedford. Bedford generally has larger lots, (more land) and perhaps slightly larger houses for the money. The property and school taxes may also be slightly lower in Bedford. For some people, 5-10 mins on a train makes a difference. Both offer great ammenities, shopping, schools, easy commutes, and a good assortment of homes in your price point. Bedford is a larger town area wise, and encompasses Katonah, Bedford Hills, part of Cross RIver, and an area known as Bedford Corners which is adjacent to Mt. Kisco. Chappaqua also borders Mt. Kisco. Both are lovely, and both offer a great investment value.

I enjoy bottom lines on most things - especially when it comes to a family's finances. No one enjoys paying property taxes - I feel that you get more bang for the buck herd in Northern Westchester - Towns of Bedford, Lewisboro, Somers (those taxes being helped with both Pepsico & IBM!), North Salem, Pound Ridge, Waccabuc! Much more house and property for the same taxes no matter what price range you are in! No one can predict the future but there are certain things we cannot avoid and one is Taxes! I look forward to working with you.

Dear Buffalo, you're asking for a glimpse into the future.. Man, If I can give you that answer ..Even if I were to how the Sold avgs/means/absorption for each area over the last 6 years, the choice you make is still no guarantee whatsoever. Anything can happen in each area. A chronic horse sickness in Bedford (heavens forbid as I am an animal lover as well) would change the environment.. Or better yet, you can buy where possibly, the first woman president lives now.. In any case, tough call. You should be looking at where can I find the best deal NOW...
