Kotoba, Home Buyer in Walnut Creek, CA

Both my husband & I have good credit over 725. Is it possible to buy a house in PH, WC area (No Concord), with small down pymt, like $6000..?

Asked by Kotoba, Walnut Creek, CA Fri Jan 18, 2013

Currently renting a place with $1750/month. If we can keep monthly pymt around $1750 - 2000 after closing cost etc......, we thought we rather own a place. Or is it unrealistic....? Again, with good credit with household income of $80,000....

Kotoba,
FHA only requires 3.5% down payment, so with $6000 down, you may qualify to purchase something around $170,000. Now there are other programs like USDA and VA which don't require any down payment. Both have stipulations however, like for VA one of you must be a Veteran and USDA only works in rural areas.
With your scores, you should meet with a great local lender who can go over all of your options. I suspect there may be a home in your future. If you need a referral to a great lender, let me know.
