Yes, but depends on the neighborhood. Right now rents are soaring and interest rates are low to buy making it a great time to invest (but also very competitive).

Great places to consider:

Jamaica Plain:

South End: http://territory.com/search?search_string=SOUTH+END%3ABOSTON…

Beacon Hill - although be aware inventory is very low: http://territory.com/search?search_string=BEACON+HILL%3ABOST…

Back Bay: http://territory.com/search?search_string=BACK+BAY%3ABOSTON&…

South Boston: http://territory.com/search?search_string=SOUTH+BOSTON%3ABOS…

Hope that helps to get you started!

Zestyway,

It would be nice to hear what direction you are following and if anyone here has heard from you.

Before you follow someones advice ask them what types of investment properties they have sold, what areas they are familiar with and what they own personally.

Low rates, busy market, 200 colleges and universities = possible good investment time. What you want and where you want it can make a big difference, though. Call Suzie Mele 857.389.3812 (cell) and ask her for one of her assiciates in Boston. She has a list of great people in many parts of Boston.

It's an excellent time to buy. With the rents sky high buying right now is a great idea.

Call or email me at anytime.

I think it really depends on what you expect as far as return on your investment, timeline, and exactly what you are looking to invest in. Looking at rental properties? Properties that need work to enhance and flip?

Talk to someone knowledgeable in the type of investment property you are looking to focus on. This is just such a broad question for a huge market (Boston).

I have been an investor/developer in Greater Boston since 1996. In recent years I moved into the Sales end of the business and enjoy bringing the reality side of things to the table. Many times I have been at the closing table as a buyer or seller with my own money on the table. That experience makes a big difference to what is offered by many realtors. What type of investment are you seeking? Single family home? Multi family home? Retail property? Apartment Property? Office or industrial property? Net Leased property. I have experience in selling, owning and managing all of them.

I am happy to discuss your needs and options.

Of course. You can Google the names of anyone who responds to this question and read the reviews. Then, interview a few of the agents and choose one you think will be the best match for you in this process.
It is a wonderful time to invest in some neighborhoods but not in others. This includes the Boston proper as well as the greater Boston area.

First step? Check out the profiles of Realtors on this site and read their recommendations. It's always worthwhile to see what other people have to say about the skills and professionalism of the brokers. If you'd like to consider me, I would welcome the chance to speak with you over the phone and discuss your needs in more detail.

I've been a Boston-based Realtor for many years; live in Boston; and have worked with many local and out-of-state investors seeking good real estate investments. Drop me a line at my website (GoHomeWithMichael.com) and we can proceed from there.

And have a great Labor Day!
