Best places to review an attorney (negatively)?

Asked by Baxter Kylie, New York, NY Fri Jun 21, 2013

We've just been through an absolutely disgraceful real estate transaction as purchasers where the seller's attorney cost us thousands of dollars due to negligence and gross incompetence.

They won't pick up the phone but weeks pass between email responses, when they're not bouncing due to 'technical difficulties'. We eventually had to start going through the brokers to get the Seller to alert the attorney that it was her job to respond to something. When emails were returned it was rare when more than the first issue in a bulleted list of issues was addressed. They didn't organize or attempt collect important documents until two days before closing was supposed to happen (delaying it for nearly a month of fees) and gross errors were found on all contractual documents.

There's little we can do to recoup our losses but we want to do our part to alert others to stay clear of hiring or entering into contracts with this attorney.

What are the best avenues for giving reviews?

I'm unaware of any online website where you can post negative reviews of attorneys. Particularly of attorneys who didn't represent you, but in fact represented the other side.

How is it that your attorney didn't insist, if indeed the other attorneys 'technical difficulties' and delays ended up costing you money, that the other side pick up the costs of those difficulties and delays?
