Beginning the process of building a home and working directly with the builder -- when negotiating with them,

is it better to negotiate a lower price, or to get them to throw in more upgrades instead? Any advice on how to go about this?

good morning erin.......if you are looking at a builder model........ask about everything in the home that isn't the four walls ........crown molding, door and hardware, everything......what you may assume comes with the home as standard......is probably extra........also, whatever you agree to pay in addition to the normal cost of the home...make a list with the items and the amt. of the cost of each....$500 her and $2,000 there adds up faster than you can imagine.........lastly....for about the cost of $300....you can have any good licensed michigan real estate appraiser, do a "future-value_"appraisal of the home to give you a ballpark of what it will be worth when completed....it is money well spent, so you don't have a surprise when you go for your end loan......best of luck...bob mcclure- success mortgage partners- plymouth, michigan......
