My husband and I are looking to take advantage of the first time hombuyer rebate incentive and have our eye on a 3 bedroom 1.5 bath home in Ravenna that is currently in forecloser for $49,000. Should be we weary of purchasing a home that was originally $123,000 for that low of a price?
Just make sure you hire a qualified home inspector who will be able to find out if there are problems with the heating and air conditioning as well as other costly repairs such as roof, appliances, plumbing, mold, ect.
Cole no as long as you are aware of what all needs to be done,etc..have ur Realtor get you in the home(make sure they are experienced)and if the numbers work after you see whats needed to do,then go from there, look at some other good buys as well, you may need 50-60k to bring up to snuff.Good luck

The fact that the home is listed far below what it last sold for isn't something in and of itself to be concerned about, prices have dropped significantly nationwide and this may or may not be the reason for the reduced value of this home.
With a foreclosure you will need to take extra care and undertake all needed inspections in your area. The seller isn't required to disclose any property defects (this is because they have never lived in the home and are unaware of most condition issues), so you will have to do your due diligence and thoroughly investigate the condition of the home.
