I work at Dominoes as a driver, and my credit score is ok. My girlfriend is a shift lead at Taco bell, and her credit score is bad. Do you think we would be able to get a decent home? We just do not want to be stuck renting for the rest of our lives. Thanks

First, let me congratulate you for trying to get out of renting and making the step towards home ownership! If her credit score is bad, you will not be able to use her on the loan. As said earlier, you need at least a 620 to get a loan. You can get the seller to help with closing costs. There are loan programs where you do not have to put anything down (USDA 102% loan) but you would have to purchase a home in a rural area (All of Hardin County, Vidor, ect). Do you currently use a bank or credit union? My first suggestion would be talk to them and see what they tell you. If they pre-qualify you, then talk to at least two mortgage brokers to see what they can get for you. Once you get the prequal letter, start house shopping! I'm a local Realtor in Beaumont so if you need any help or advice, shoot me an e-mail!

in order to purchase a house you will need a minimum credit score of 620 with 3.5% of purchase price for down payment,a 2 year work history, sufficient income to pay monthly notetaxes & insurance plus reserves for maintenance. if the roof or AC needs to be replaced, can you handle it? Can you afford to purchase lawn equipment for yard maintenance? Your debt to income ratio needs to be at an acceptable level. your best option is to contact a reputable ,local lender to discuss your options.
