Are townhouse style condominiums worth it?

I'm considering purchasing a "townhouse style condominium" at the Gables End community in Mountain View. I don't have any issue with purchasing a traditional townhouse. However, being from the east coast, this "townhouse style condominium" is a new concept to me. My concern is you don't own the land in a "townhouse style condominium" where you do own the land under you in the traditional townhouse. My question is, should this be a huge concern for me or is this not too much a concern I should fret over when it comes to reselling and such. Also am I being too simplistic in my explanation? Are there other differences I am missing?

You will own the land and there is no HOA.

I can show the homes to you.

Link, When you own a townhouse you own the land. There is no one living above or below you When you own a condo, you don't own the land and there is usually someone living above or below you. It's all about what you are looking for in a property and how much you can afford. Some condos don't have inside laundry areas and you are forced to share the community laundry facility. Almost like apartment style living. Some townhouses have a garage, where as a condo would not.

Hello Link,
Most of the town home complexes in the northern California are condominiums (you purchase the space and share the land) so this is somewhat of a norm here. Hence it should not be a concern. As you mentioned this is not the case on the east coast and well as parts of the southern California. It would be a concerns in those area and prices are are adjusted accordingly for such properties in those area.
Hope this helps!
