22309 is found in the Mount Vernon District of Fairfax County. Homes here are among the most expensive and luxurious in Northern Virginia. In the same zip code, you'll find some of the most affordable real estate in Northern Virginia. Northern Virginia has a highly efficient market with well-informed and well-educated buyers and sellers. Generally the prices you see that are low ... are low for a reason. And the prices you see that are high . . . are high for a reason.
I highly recommend you pick a local expert to help you on your home search. You can read more about Mount Vernon at the link below.
You can access crime stats through the search feature on my website. Simply search for a property then click on the community info links found there. I also have links to Alexandria and Fairfax county public school sites. Check it out at http://www.RachelCarterRealty.com.
As a resident of 22309 myself, the zip code encompasses many different types of neighborhoods and holds a lot of history. It is on parts of George Washington's original five farms, includes many other historic sites and has both suburban as well as urban-type neighborhoods. Single family homes, water front properties, rental apartments, townhouses and condos are all found in the zip code. So, you have a wide choice in variety of home styles and price ranges.
As realtors, we are bound by our ethical code and Fair Housing Law to advise you of these things but we cannot do the research for you. We can point you in the right direction. I hope this information has been helpful.
REALTORS are not supposed to advise clients as to the safety of a particular area/neighborhood as it is outside the scope of their expertise, and at best be a personal opinion. Your best bet is to contact Fairfax County police and ask for crime statistics for the area you are concerned with. Then You can make the determination for yourself.
