Plan to rent out as a vacation home short-term but retire to eventually. Am from the region but have been away for several years. How is the rental business for such homes? Any advice on good locations, and why would you recommend? Comments on lakeside tax districts, water quality, flooding, etc appreciated. We're already working w/a realtor.

My office specializes in Lakefront Homes and we also have a great rental department. If you're looking to do short term summer rentals, but direct lakefront - it's what everyone is looking for when they rent their vacation week, It's like if I go to the ocean, I'll pay the extra $$$ to be right on the ocean, not a block away. We can rent a mint condition direct lakefront home all ten weeks of our short summer season....Taxes are higher, flooding is not really an issue on our lakes and the water quality is excellent!!!!!
