Address Discrepancy with Duplex of Interest

I am interested in purchasing a duplex, however there are address discrepancies; as follows:

* 113 & 115 archer circle - post office
* 113 & 115 archer drive - street sign (note: each unit has its' own unique address)
* 115 archer drive - county tax record
* 115 archer circle - existing leases
* 115 archer circle - county register of deeds

IMHO a duplex has two addresses - whether separate numbers (e.g., 111 and 113) or one number w/qualifiers (e.g. 113A and 113B).

I don't want this to come back to haunt me if and when I decide to sell.

Looking to forward to your responses.

You should verify with a real estate attorney. Email me for a good one in Chapel Hill.

To be honest, I don't know for sure. I would think it is the register of deeds because when a property is bought, sold, or changes ownership it is recorded by an attorney with the register of deeds. It is the legal address. However, street names can change, especially as new streets are developed.

Hope this helps. Good luck. You may want to check with a real estate attorney.
