The process is very easy. Navy Federal is a good lender... and as I advise everyone... couldn't hurt to compare with a couple of other lenders just to be sure you are getting the best over all deal. For anyone that qualifies for VA financing.. I always recommend doing a Texas Vet loan. Lowest interest rate out there! If Navy Fed doesn't handle them.. go here: http://www.DHIMortgage.com/Kasey-Hampton - Kasey does TX Vet loans in her sleep! If you qualify for VA, you will qualify for Texas Vet even if it is not your state of record. You will thank me for this one later!!

IN the mean time... I am happy to e-mail you a full list of all the homes that fit what you are looking for. I don't mind at all. Just need to know what side of town, max price range, beds/baths, etc. I'll send them right out to you.

Shoot me an e-mail, send me a text, or go old school and give me a call :)

From one recent home buyer to another, I'd like to recommend Jason Campbell. He was our Agent. We just closed on our home and we did a Texas Vet loan. He made the process very easy, and walked us through it every step of the way. He saved us A LOT of money on this one. Got the seller to pay our closing costs and lower the price. I just saw your question so I figured I might do you and Jason a favor at the same time. He has my recommendation for sure!

Hi Jmansapit,

Welcome to San Antonio..you are going to love it here :).

When my husband and I were stationed here in 2006 we found out we were going to stay and make this our home forever. Don't be nervous..PCSing is fun and this is a huge military town. I retired from FT Sam Houston (Joint Base San Antonio) in 2008 and my husband is still in the Army as we speak.

You will find a ton of help on this site and many Realtors® who are willing to help you through the home buying process and help you to get with knowledgeable VA lenders.

I, myself, have used my VA loan many times so know the ins and outs of it quite well and have helped numerous military families buy homes here!

I would love to assist you with your home purchase as well. You have many choices here in the greater San Antonio area so whomever you are comfortable with in helping you purchase a home is who you should go through. Check out our webpages and our profiles and find the perfect buyers agent for you :)!

You can register on my site for a no obligation home search as well! I look forward to hearing from you and wish you the best of luck on your PCS here to San Antonio!

Welcome to San Antonio! We like to be known as "Military City, USA". To us, it's not just a catch phrase.....it's something we practice on a daily basis. You will find San Antonio one of the most welcoming cities there is for our military!

Navy Federal is a good lender. However, I advise that you shop around a little for the best balance of rates, costs. etc. Call Jack Shull with Guild Mortgage. He makes it easy to apply on-line, has extra competitive rates, and can close quickly. Remember that money is money and all lenders have the same product. The difference is what the costs are and how easy they make the process. Be careful of lenders that make promises they can't keep. Check with your Realtor is anything doesn't pass the smell test.

I see you've already been told to keep your tax returns and any papers important to the loan process with you. That's good advice as most lenders will need those returns before your household goods arrive.

Regarding your home search, you'll want a good Realtor with experience, who knows their way around San Antonio and who will tell you what you want to know about neighborhoods, schools, various builders, the commute to the Base or Post, and will give you full representation in your purchase. Ask for a resume and don't be afraid to ask questions regarding their qualifications.

Regarding where to start with your home we'll need to know more about what's important to you. Call or write anytime. My contact information is below.

I would love to help you and your family find your next home. VA loans make it easy to buy. I would highly recommend that you and your family buy rather than throwing your money away towards rent. Plus, by chance you and your have to move, San Antonio is a great rental market. So, y'all will be able to keep your home and have renters pay off your mortgage. It's a win-win to buy. Feel free to contact me anytime.
