I've lived in Mesa, Gilbert or Chandler since 1986 and love it here. The link provided by Heather is a great one to check out.

Here is one for the Chandler PD

Gilbert is very popular. I personally prefer east Mesa to central or downtown Mesa, but here are the websites that may be more helpful:

http://www.mesaaz.gov/police/compstat/statistics.aspx

https://www.crimereports.com/

The best thing to do is drive the areas of interest to determine if you feel safe there or not and then check out crime statistics and talk to homeowners if they happen to be outside.

Hi,

I have lived in AZ for 10 years, we live in Mesa and we are very happy to raise our family here. If you have any questions feel free to contact me any time. As for crime stats I can send you some excellent websites. Safe trip to your daughter! Besides missing the water she will love it here!

Hi Mario,

I've lived in the PHX area since 1985 and I know virtually every street corner in the Gilbert and Mesa area :)

A lot will depend on what is most important to your daughter like distance to work, schools, shopping etc. Gilbert and Mesa both have great neighborhoods. Prices and real estate taxes will vary. I will be happy to send you the best homes for your daughter depending on her needs and budget. Please call me at 480-612-4958 or send me an email.

Gilbert and Mesa are some of the larger east valley cities and have lots of great amenities to offer as your daughter relocates. What are the most important to criteria for her new home? Shopping, freeway access, proximity to school, commute to work, sports events, cultural events, and commute to church are some factors she may want to consider.

Both cities have amazing areas. I do think that Mesa has more older areas than Gilbert. I am a Gilbert resident and relocated from CA as well. I feel that south of the 202 freeway in Gilbert is more modern and newer. At least it was an easier transition for me coming from the East Bay (Walnut Creek area). If she was coming from Southern CA would be different, but SF and East Bay seem to 'culturaly" fit best in South Gilbert. At least that's what worked for me and my family.

Both cities have great areas. It will depend upon the price range she is spending to determine the best areas.

My wife and I have lived in Gilbert now for 9 years after moving here from KY. We love it in Gilbert - we have lots of access to various main highways so it is easy to get around. Mesa is proclaimed to be an older city with older residents in many place whereas the age of Gilbert residents as a whole is younger.

As stated in previous post, the website for crime statistics is helpful. to use to find crime statistics. Another site I like is azcentral.com/myneighborhood (website below)
http://www.azcentral.com/neighborhood/draw.php?myid=w21-2597#

If I can help in anyway, let me know. Good luck!
