Angio, The home at 102 Russell was offered for sale at $89,000 (originally listed at $116,000). The listing began in October last year and was withdrawn on April 6, 2009. The home was in "short sale" classification which means the owner was probably behind or struggling to keep up with mortgage payments. With a short sale the lien holder must agree to take less than the amount that is owed to approve the sale. Basically the lender has to decide which is better, approving a short sale and losing the shortage or foreclose and take their chances on selling it for a higher net price (there are huge costs associated with foreclosure).
