Works pretty good for me.
Easy choice...agentgenius.com is wonderful. Every day I read it religiously and everyday I learn a little more. Sometimes its cold hard facts, sometimes its opinions (that I agree AND disagree with), and sometimes its great tip, tricks, and hints, some of which I've implemented already.
Thanks agentgenius.
For general information http://getprequalified.com has a lot of great information for consumers on real estate and mortgages.
I like agentgenius and bloodhound. I learn alot.
That is weird about the thumbs downs on many of the posts. Maybe its because of so many new people to trulia and them getting overly excited to hit a button.
But come on "thumb down givers" unless a post is really bad or offensive leave it alone. If a post is not great, but isn't offensive or spamming well then just leave it. It's neither a thumbs up or a thumbs down.
Hi Rhonda to answer your question I do have a blog. I actually have a couple. I really would like to have a blog that deals with individual neighborhoods. So I started this but really haven't perfected them as I am actually revamping a bunch of my online marketing/information. Finding the time to blog is difficult too. I think I like reading more than writing.
You can check out mine but as I said they're rough. I put news about the area and about local things going on. I have some personal things up there like my daughter singing and, what I think is a great letter I wrote to my clients about when my father went through cancer treatments. For those of you that don't know me my dad and I have been working as a team in real estate for over 17 years. So on top of being my dad, he's also my real estate partner.
I think my dads letter is on my http://www.morehomes.net blog (not .com)
I also have http://www.LivinginBurien.com and http://www.LivinginNormandyPark.com and a few more but I really am not plugging my own stuff. Dont want to many THUMBS Down :-) People getting all excited.
Keep up all the good posts. i am looking at everyone of the blogs people suggest. Off to go thumb wrestle with my daughters.
OOO! Rhonda is right! I love Citizen Rain! MY other favorite is Vintage Seattle! http://www.vintageseattle.org
James - 5/3 -
I through in that thing about Inman TV and got a few swing votes.
I think Trulia should remove the Thumbs all together, and just rely on posted comments.
I am a Citizen Rain addict. I love checking out the latest local RE blogs.
i agree...btw...i've been meaning to ask...why did so many agents seem to join in the past three weeks? It has really changed Trulia in a lot of ways...I am just wondering why so many have new accounts as of 2/27?
Courtney...I think this was my first thumbs down too...oh the shame! Maybe we should repost this as a question on Trulia instead of getting off topic?
Dustin, do you have a blog?
Curious about all the thumbs downs...all seemed to start around the same time that all the new agents joined last month? I could be wrong, but I have been on here since October and never ever seen this many thumbs downs...
I have seen some great answers from some new members here, but for me to accrue three thumbs downs on my earlier answer to this question is not only ridiculous, but is also just too much of a coincidence. First of all my answer was good - take some time and check out Rain City Guide! It is not my site and I don't write for it. http://www.raincityguide.com
I am thinking that with this huge influx of new knowledge, maybe Trulia should adjust to accommodate for some very competitive new members? Dustin this was a great question and the idea of the Agent to agent section, I think, is to network and share information with each other in order to gain more knowledge which benefits our clients. The community guidelines might be worth another trip.... Thumbs down is just bad for all of us and reflects poorly on the community.... unless it is well needed. OK - Give me all the thumbs downs now:)
thanks guys keep up the good work. I love all the suggestions. Now I just have to find some time to read all my new blogs.
Quick answer. Zilpy.com. Great web site for investors to check out rental prices in a given area.
Hi Dustin!
3 of my favorite daily reads for real estate are:
http://www.intothebox.tv/
http://agentgenius.com/
http://4realz.net/
Rudy
Social Media Guru at Trulia
I concurr with Tiwitter. Its not Real Estate related but its a really fun way to keep track of people.
I must admit, I enjoy Rain City Guide (not just my posts)... I'm proud of my fellow contributors. I also like Seattle Bubble, Bloodhound Blog, Blown Mortgage, Real Estate Tomato... and I'm hooked on Twitter (which is not really a blog--sorry if I'm off topic).
My own! Just kidding sort off. I take pride in searching blogs posted by local folks that are constantly discussing the market. I get plenty of general data on the news so its good to keep updated with what the local folk are saying. As far as my blog is concerned, I like reading my past thoughts. Sometimes I feel brilliant, sometimes naive. But its all part of growing up with the industry.
My two favorite consumer written real estate blogs are
http://seattlebubble.com/blog/
http://mbcon.blogspot.com/2007/07/personal-revelation_12.html
I think James is correct. Agents shouldn't be asking agents questions on this side of Trulia, and the thumbs down are in response to agents answering in agent fashion. I do think agents plugging their own sites was bad, but even those who did not, got thumbs down. But not as many.
I personally did a thumbs down to agents who plugged their own sites. Perhaps the automatic "web reference" that posts when you comment, was misperceived as a plug and answer to the question.
I dont think I put this in the agent2agent section. I really didnt care if agents plugged their own sites or the general readers posted their favorite sites. I like to know what everybody interested in real estate likes to read up on.
Thanks All,
Isn't this question under the Agent2Agent section and you asked what are our favorite sites? So weird that people don't like others answering the question... plug or no plug. Wonder if it's the general public that's thumbing them down thinking we're trying to self-promote. I find it funny my bloodhoundblog reference got 3 thumbs down and Patrick's same bloodhoundblog reference only got 1. How odd, yet ... entertaining.
I think the thumbs down must be people not finding agents plugging their own blogs. I dont mind the plugs maybe these agents do have great blogs. i have a few blogs myself. Haven't plugged them by the way.. I like hearing everyone's feedback. i've read most of this over the past year or so. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any good information out there.
WOW! I've never seen so many thumbs downs! What's up with that?
Hey Dustin,
I'm pretty new to blogging, but I enjoy activerain.com. Check it out if you're not familiar with it.
Dustin....
I really enjoy active rain and real town.
Until my blog over takes the world, I will read.....
http://www.bloodhoundrealty.com/BloodhoundBlog/
Let`s not forget InmanTV is quite entertaining.
I agree on Inman News...I also subscribe to Realty Times emails...someday it has some really good articles in it.
I think every agent should subscribe to Inman News. There's a real estate forum called Real Talk run by InternetCrusade.com I haven't been there for awhile, but from the mid nineties through recently I learned a TON there.
Gotta run with the hounds..
http://www.bloodhoundrealty.com/BloodhoundBlog/
I second what Courtney says...those are my two favorite local Seattle sites to read...I actually have enjoyed seattlebubble.com too which is sometimes very controversial...not always bad though as it at least makes us realtors think and defend our points.
Dustin,
I really like this group of sites: http://www.residentialseattle.com
:)

Dustin -
There are a lot I keep up with but here are some of my favorites:
http://blownmortgage.com
http://letstalkrealestate.typepad.com
http://countrywide-foreclosures.blogspot.com
http://www.realtown.com
http://www.therealestatebloggers.com
http://www.mercextra.com/blogs/realestate
Active rain overwhelms me. I take RSS feeds from about 20 or so around the country and do a quick read every day.
CJ
I enjoy reading http://www.copyblogger.com! It's full of great copy tips!
I would never nominate my own blog. It's just not that interesting! I love Franklyrealty's blog. There are others too but that is the first to come to mind. Hey Frankly, can I steal some of your copy? JK!
hmmm..mine? Just kidding -For Seattle, I like RainCityGuide.com - http://www.raincityguide.com
There is a great mixture of "voices" from some very smart people in the biz....
HEY MAN......... that's a great question. Dude. ;-)
Take a bet? I bet 99% of agents that answer this post will nominate their own website. Otherwise, ... Trulia.com comes to mind and http:// http://www.ActiveRain.com - A little humor is cool.
