Asbestos can be very harmful, and it can cause a number of breathing problems, as well as other illnesses. I would definitely suggest getting those shingles replaced immediately if it's your home, or requiring that change before closing if you're considering buying the house. Just make sure that the asbestos is professionally and correctly removed. The last thing you'd want is to have to deal with these problems because of an incorrect removal.
comment by Austin is valid....look at Trulia/Zillow/etc and chuckle....remember real estate is local, lcal...for example a house in Enfield on South St east of Amtrak and a similar house on South River St. with direct Connecticut River waterfront west of the Amtrak may show about same value on websites, but fact is the tranquility and view of the waterfront home may increase it's real 2015 value and enhanced value in next 5 or years likely by 30% to 50%! So, both houses may show same $130,000 on various websites but South River St. house likely worth $169,000 - $195,000 if both are similar size, condition, amenities. Remember.....location, location, location...and 'they ain't making any more waterfront property" that is well above the FEMA flood zones!... more
They both offer great homes. It is really up to what a particular buyer is looking for and requires in a home. It is best to see as many homes as possible when searching for that perfect home. After seeing multiple homes your questions are often answered and your needs become much clearer. Important when seeing homes is having a knowledgeable realtor's consultation. Yes, extremely close just drive up & down Rt 44 and you will be able to buy anything from jewelry to household products. You are only a few minutes from Canton where there are 45 specialty shoes in the Farmington Valley outdoor shopping plaza. There are also several grocery stores including Fresh Market and a Meat Market.... more
It's not an active community but it's not a bad community most residence keep to themselves I've lived around here my whole life I never had any issues. It's different now than how it was in the past they tore down the old pinnacle and are building everything brand new and now are really judgmental torwards who they place in these rentals which I personally think is great. Seems nicer like its improving.... more
