During this hot summer our air conditioner is on and my electric bill is skyrocketing. Other than turning of the unit, is there anything I can buy to reduce my electric bill? I have heard of something called an "energy saver", but don't know where to buy it. Where can I buy it and how much does it cost?

Here is a website to check out: http://www.power-save1200.com/. Also be sure to check with your local energy provider for a local source or installer. Good luck!

If BG&E is your carrier they can install a box on your heat pump that cycles the electricity. Call BG&E. The should help. I find that keeping it at 78 keeps the humidity out.

That is a great question. I am always trying to find ways to get my home to be more green. If you will be replacing your unit you will want to look for a high SEER number. Anything higher than 14 is very energy efficient. You can find these units from most of the HVAC service install and repair companies. BGE home, Sears, and your local Heating and Air companies will be able to educate you and give you a good estimate for the system that will work for your home. These same companies can also service your unit to make it work more efficiently and by doing that it will reduce your bills. I hope this helps. Thanks.
