Are there Green Model Homes in Bucks County, PA?

Asked by Kate, Feasterville Trevose, PA 19052 Wed Dec 23, 2009

I teach 7th grade Gifted Students and this semester's project is to design a green model home. The students are designing the landscaping, footprint, envelope, and interior to energy efficiency standards as well as requiring them to use recycled building materials in their design. The students are having trouble imaging how a green design can have all of the creature comforts they are used to and still be energy efficient. Are there any Green model homes in Bucks County, PA for them to visit?

The film “Ecological Design: Inventing the Future” which was produced by the owner, Christopher W Zelov.

Recycled and organic materials throughout the property, solar fountains, planted trees and a bamboo grove, large solar panel in the rear field tracks the sun and provides much of the electricity to the house. Energy Efficient appliances, furnace, and LED lighting minimizes electric use.
A revolutionary-era homestead c.1790. A solar fountain called Dreamscape. The home is powered by a solar energy system. A green canopy through the hidden bamboo groves bordering three connecting ponds shimmering under tall willows, past a row of stately Sequoias. Enough pasture for horses.

I have a wonderful resource for you! Danny Seo is an eco-lifestyle expert who lives right here in Bucks County. I've included a link to his blog below. He owns two homes in Bucks - one a cottage on River Road and another modern home in Jamison. He's completely renovated the Jamison home with eco friendly materials.

Hi Kate,

I have represented and sold "Green" homes in Bucks County. The Bucks County Home Builder's Association created the Keystone Green Building Initiative to set "Green" standards for local home builder's. Here is their website:

Hope this helps.
