The Vineville/Ridge area is pretty nice; it's close to downtown with a more laid-back feel. North Macon is good as well; the Riverside/Northside area is also nice, and close to grocery stores. Houses there run an average 100K, more or less depending on what features you want. Schools in both areas are good--you'll find higher school ratings in the North Macon schools. Figure out which school seems the best, if you're moving with family, and shop around those areas. Double check the street with the school on the Bibb County Board of Education web-site.

However, I see you asked this question back in 2007! Hope you located a good spot by now. :-)
