Hello. All of these answers are great and definitely give detail about what's in and around Stroudsburg. I like to think that Stroudsburg is a place that is big enough to have top names in shopping and dining, but small enough to promote/support "mom and pop" shops; it is large enough to have a variety of activities for the children, but small enough that the teachers still remember their students years later; and it is just the right distance to shopping, as it is to leisure and outdoor adventures.

Hi GrandmaSmith,

Stroudsburg has lots of highlights!

* A very charming Main St. with shops, restaurants, galleries and the Sherman Theater, which has an impressive variety of live entertainment. Main St. hosts a farmer's market during the warm months and a number of fairs and festival throughout the year.

* Easy access to shopping at stores like Kohl's, TJ Maxx, Border's, AC Moore, Target, Wal-Mart and KMart -- plus the Crossings Premium Outlets.

* A wealth of social, community and special interest clubs, as well as plenty of volunteer opportunities

* Access to classes -- credit and non-credit -- and cultural and academic events at nearby East Stroudsburg University

* A large, well-equipped branch of the Pocono Community Library system

* Highly regarded public schools

* Proximity to Pocono Medical Center and medical practices associated with the hospital

I hope that gives you a sense of our community!

Keep in mind that highlights are really a matter of personal preferences, therefore if unfamiliar with the area, do visit more than once and at different times of day, drive around and look at everything that is important to you, dine at local eateries, possibly chat with locals, etc., then make your determination, will you be happy living there...

There are many highlights of living here,If you like skiing there is CamelBack, Shawne and Alpine Mountain along with JackFrost,. Lots of trout fishing streams, the Delaware River all the State Forest and National Recreation areas. During the summer there are great water parks, CamelBeach is my favorite. Fabulous Resturants and fun places to go out any night of the week along with great people you will meet and the festivals all year round.
