New York allows the star program for primary homes only. You will not be able to claim the Star Exemption for the New York home if Florida is your primary home.

The issue here seems to be that you are claiming two primary residences; that doesn't work. You might end up losing Star & Homestead Exemption.

Only one residence can be your primary; you'll have to pay full tax on the other.

You only have to declare Homestead each year when they send the post card out! Proof of residents are bills addressed to you from that home!
