Yes there are. There are many Latinos living in Charlotte, Pineville, Monroe (NC) and York and Rock Hill (SC). When I worked for La Voz de Carolina and ImpactoLatino we were tracking the influx of the Comunidad Latinoamericana in the Carolinas. The latest US Census is a great resource as it shows pockets of the community in and around Charlotte. A simple drive down many of the streets in these towns will help you discover wonderful signs in many different languages, among them are those in Spanish. We even have a 3 branches for a credit union devoted to the Latino Community: http://www.latinoccu.org and have several Spanish language radio stations, newspapers and magazine publications. We have a latin festival and there is even a shopping center near Carowinds devoted to the latino community.

If I can answer any more questions, llame!

As real estate agents we are not allowed to "steer" customers toward particular neighborhoods or areas based on ethnicity, but you asked a general question about whether there are communities. There are not 'latino neighborhoods' but that was not your question. A good way to discover the community, if you cannot drive around yourself, is to pickup a copy of some of the publications and look at the addresses and locations.

Great info Larry.

http://neighborhoodscout.com is another great website where buyers can find information about communities.

Raeraern,

While Anna is correct about steering in NC & SC an agent can be the source for the information that you will need to make the decisions you want to make. There are websites that will give you the information you want to help you make the choices of where you would like to look for your home. Steering is when an agent tells you information in order to influence you decision to buy in one neighborhood versus another. Now you can make your own decisions with the information you gain from looking at the websites we furnish to you. You can then tell your agent what areas you wish to find a home to buy. So while i cannot specifically tell you one neighborhoods make up from another I can tell you where to find the information you would like to know. So instead of just saying no here are some sites for you to check out.

First find the zip codes for the areas you wish to search out by looking them up:
http://maps.huge.info/zip.htm

Then you can look up specific demographic information at this site:
http://zipskinny.com/zipcompare.php

If you do not already have a buyer's agent and need a referral then just ask and I can give you some names for you to interview for the job of helping you purchase your next home.

Hope this helps,

Thank you, but that is why I am asking on here. I am in a class for my masters degree, live in the Fort Mill area, but am unaware of any communities. I am just trying to get some information...have already spent time online trying to find things out...and thought I would try this. But, thank you for your answer, Anna.

Consider doing some research of your own--check for online information, visit areas, etc., real estate professionals are prohibited from “steering”—enticing a buyer to purchase, or not, in specific neighborhoods.
