Unfortunately, most rentals in northern New Jersey are not through agents. There are always a few, usually from absentee landlords. Also, if you rent through an agent, you will usually have to pay the rental commission, which is usually 1 months rent.

You might be better off just using the Bergen Record or Star Ledger. There are also several garden apartment complexes in that area that usually have vacancies.
