Your property taxes are based upon the County and city upon which you live combined with the assessed value of your particular property. Beach Street properties with riparian rights or waterfront access will be assessed higher than non-waterfront property. The County property appraiser will re-assess your property after you purchase it. The newly assessed value will be based upon your purchase price and surrounding comparable recent sales. IF you qualify for the Save Our Homes, homestead deduction, $50,000 of taxable value will be deducted from your overall assessed value and you will be taxed on the lower amount. You can check the millage rate for any particular property by looking on the Voluisa County Property Appraisers website at the top right hand corner. Search by address. Once you find the subject property, multply the millage rate as a %age x the assessed value at the very bottom of the subject page.
