The value of your land you acquired will have to be based on the date your mother passed away. A realtor would have to do a Comparison Market Analysis (CMA) in your neighborhood for the similar lands to determine the value of your land.

Please let me know if you need more assistance.

Hi Larry,

The best way to get the value of your property is to have it appraised by an appraisor. However as Brigita mentioned, a Realtor can do a comparative market analsys of the property. I am a Realtor at Keller Williams Realty Services in Hammond and would be happy to provide you with a market analsys. The market analysis will not cost you anything. Give me a call or email me so we can discuss the details of your property. I can be reached at 985-507-9801 or via email janetturner@janetturnerrealestate.com.

Larry,

The best way to find out the value of the property you inherited would be to either hire an appraiser or you can ask your local real estate professional to give you a market analysis of the property.

Appraisals and Market Analysis' are not the same, but are similar. A REALTOR cannot do an appraisal, only a certified appraiser can do that. A Market Analysis is where a real estate agent will compare your property to others in your area, that are similar to yours, which have sold within the past few months. Usually, 6 or more properties are used for comparison. If there aren't that many similar properties, then as many as possible will be used. The sale prices will then be averaged to get an idea of what the market value of your properties are at that time.

I hope this answers your question.
