In Little Elm, there are a couple of corner stores available. From there you are about a 15 to 20 minute drive to Frisco. It is about a 10 minute drive down the hill to Denton where it is easy to find a Kroger's, Wal-Mart or Targets along with drug stores like CVS or Walgreens.
I prefer Denton just for the fact that I don't have to deal with the traffic of Frisco. There had been rumors of a grocery store going in on 380 just north of Little Elm
There are many nearby places to shop, although in your immediate vicinity (as with most suburbs) there may not be a pharmacy around the corner. Suburban homes have been designed for vehicular traffic -- you must get in your car and drive to shop. Often critical pathways have no sidewalks - a sure sign you're in suburbia.
This shortcoming of suburban life (that almost everything must be accessed by car) is usually outweighed by the lifestyle people want. Parks, pools or lakes nearby and quiet neighborhoods with no traffic except during school or work commute times.
Little Elm is a great area, extremely small town however is not far from The Colony or Frisco.
Many homes are located with lake front view.
