Getting a job in real estate might not be the biggest challenge you face! Like many things in life, taking the tests and passing the courses are as hard as you make them. If you study and put your mind to it, you can pass the tests and get your license with flying colors. In retrospect, I should have spend several days with lenders/mortgage brokers, a title company, home inspectors, appraisers, a broker, and a few full time agents to get a full-range perspective of what all this crazy world of real estate entails. It think that would be invaluable for you. Because we coordinate all these folks from signing the orriginal contract all the way to closing, we're expecting to be "experts" in all these areas. I know I wish I would have done it. If you do do it, you'll be a step ahead of anyone else in your graduating class!

Tammy, quick and simple:
Take the tests, pass the exams, get into real estate...

I would say though, it is not about the tests, and to brokers, talk to agents, find out what it is really like as an agent. It might not be for you. You have to be very outgoing, talk to a lot of people, basically live, eat, breath real estate to be successful.

You can also join a team, and get into real estate.

Good luck,

Complete the licensing requirements and interview with the companies in the area you plan to work. Most of your larger franchise type companies will take on brand new agents and many have very good training programs to get you on your feet.

Tammie: Getting a job in real estate varies to what exactly you'd like to do. Of course, the most common job is a real estate affiliate broker or real estate agent. In order to become an affiliate broker, you must attend real estate school, pass the test and join a brokerage. It's really not as simple as I said here, but you get the jist. You can find out more about it all by visiting Now I live in Nashville, so I'm not certain what school are there in Dickson, but there are several good ones like Nashville School of Real Estate and T. R. E. E. S.

Other jobs include, appraisers, mortgage broker, agent assistants, general real estate office management/support, title company employees, home warranty reps and tons more. Let me know where you'd like to concentrate, and I can will guide you further.
