On the north edge of Indianapolis is Hamilton County, with the towns of Carmel & Fishers. They are very affluent communities & Hamilton County is in the top 20 nationally for per capita income. The school systems are the best in the state. Yet the homes range from $150,000 to $10 million. Is there a similar area in the metro Nashville area?

Right. Two schools in Brentwood are ranked on Newsweek's 2007 Top 1300 Public High Schools. Franklin has one school ranked. Generally speaking, many families move to Williamson County with schools in mind. Both Brentwood and Franklin are within Williamson County. Franklin, the county seat, is the largest city within Williamson County and offers the most variety in terms of housing prices. Other cities in the county include Brentwood, Nolensville, Thompson Station, Spring Hill and Fairview. Brentwood is the closest city to Nashville of the Williamson County cities and is probably more affluent overall. In Davidson County, Hillsboro is ranked in Nashville with students from the "area" known as Green Hills in the city of Nashville.
Hendersonville, in Sumner County, just northeast of Nashville might not be a bad bet either. This will generally put you 25-40 minutes to downtown Nashville, depending exactly where you settle. Here you can find moderately priced 2,000 sqft homes close to parks, school, all major conveniences, as well as multi-million dollar lakefront homes on Old Hickory Lake. Hope this helps.
